Nana Ɔkomfo Mena Yaa Bradua Adubea, lovingly called Mena, was born Althea Gravesandy in Jamaica. From a young age she learned the importance of truth from her parents. After moving to the United States in the early 1980s, she built a successful 44-year career as a physical therapist. She continued her studies in Acupuncture, Oriental Medicine, and Akan Cosmology in Ghana.
She has been honored with the title of Ɔkomfo and later named Akwansrahemma, Queen Mother of Larteh-Benkum in 2024. Nana Mena Yaa brings together clinical skills and spiritual wisdom in everything she does. She specializes in Craniosacral Therapy and Somato-Emotional Release, helping people release old trauma stored in the body.
With her husband Dr Robert Vassall, she owns and operates Nature Works For You LLC in South Florida. She also serves as Senior Director of Wawa Aba Wellness Corporation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Through this organization she creates healing retreats and workshops that connect people across the Caribbean, the United States, and West Africa.
A mother of five and grandmother, Nana Mena Yaa lives her message every day. Her first book, Veracity: The Walk to Please Spirit, shares the lessons from her remarkable journey. She continues to guide others toward personal truth, ancestral healing, and inner peace.
